Welcome to my website.
I have been lucky enough to travel widely for the past few decades, always with an eye for photographic opportunities. Much of that time has been spent looking for local wildlife, often while fishing with the good people I have met along the way. I hope you enjoy browsing through the images and words I have produced to describe some of my experiences.
You may well ask why I associate fishing & wildlife.
For me it dates back nearly 60 years to when, at around the age of 7, a friend and I would catch a bus from Mitcham, where we lived, to Kingston-on-Thames, where we fished. We didn't always catch fish but we did enjoy feeding bits of our sandwiches to the swans and ducks on the river and feeding our maggots to robins hopping up and down the riverbank. I didn't own a camera back then - but in my late teens I bought a small minolta and took lots of "fishpics", particularly of our Winter chub fishing nights on the River Thames. It was not until I began travelling abroad to fish, at around the age of 40, that I started to photograph wildlife in earnest. Nowadays, I spend much more time looking for wildlife than I do fishing.
I have tried to make this website "user friendly", in terms of how the images are presented -
- wildlife images are grouped under page headings, by country, each header page being sub-divided into separate pages for birds, mammals, reptiles etc. The images are then arranged into slideshows that you can start by pressing the "Play" button (top left of the slideshow). If you want to view any image more closely, you can halt playback by clicking the "Pause" button, or simply click on one of the thumbnails displayed at the bottom of the slideshow.
- fishing articles and images all appear in sub-pages under one header page entitled "Fishing Abroad". There is one sub-page for each location. The images that accompany my articles are presented in slideshows, with thumbnail images displayed at the bottom of each slideshow. You can view any thumbnail image in more detail simply by clicking on it. If possible, I have provided links to websites via which you can book trips to the fishing locations and links to websites via which you can purchase the tackle required to fish them.
As an introduction to my work, I have created the gallery below. It incorporates sample images from places I have visited - more images from these locations, and others, can be found under the appropriate page headings.
